Progress Update: interior plaster work begins

No regrets. It’s stunning.

No doubt that this is labor intensive. The plaster line items comprises a massive part of our budget. But we spend a lot less in other materials and labor elsewhere. Less walls to paint. Actually, once the plaster is on, you kinda can’t change it. I believe you can do lime color washes over it, or even paint over it in the future (odd), but it’s not as simple as repainting a wall. It is easily repairable and this is a huge selling point for many folks. For us, it’s about air quality, tactility, reflectivity and as our builder likes to say “wabi sabi”. And it smells feels really, calm, inside. You’ll just have to feel for yourself.

This is a breathable system. Moisture moves through the wall. Air moves through (hopefully) only through windows & doors. This is a stark contrast to the traditional wall that is built up something like this:
